It only takes a couple of hours to get to the Oregon Coast from Portland, making it a great option for a weekend trip this holiday season. Here are six family-friendly holiday activities on the Oregon Coast to get you in the spirit. Just don’t forget to bundle up – it will be extra chilly near the ocean!
1. Parade of Lights in Seaside
Kicking off the holiday season on the Oregon Coast, the Parade of Lights in Seaside is the perfect combination of the beach and the holidays. After the parade, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and sing carols around the Christmas tree. The parade happens the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 25th.

2. Christmas Train Display
Head to the Coos Bay area on the Oregon Coast to check out this fun after-dark train display. There are hundreds of miniatures set up in a perfect city with trains chugging their way through, all by the glow of the display lights.

3. Holiday Lights at Shore Acres State Park (pictured)
Celebrating its 25th year, the Holiday Lights display in Coos Bay features over 250,000 twinkling lights over just seven-acres, making for an evening that will have your little one’s jaw drop. And of course, all the lights are LED to save energy.

4. Yachats Winter Celebration
From Thanksgiving to the New Year, the Oregon Coast town of Yachats is in full winter celebration! Every day there are fun, seasonal, family-friendly events such as music, lights displays and community bonfires.

5. The Nutcracker
The little beach town of Florence on the Oregon Coast is lucky to have The Eugene Ballet Company visit every holiday season for a performance of The Nutcracker. There is only one show, but it’s worth keeping your little sugarplums up late for!

6. Christmas Concert at the Egyptian Theatre
There’s something about music and the holidays that goes so nicely together! If you’re on the Oregon Coast this holiday season, stop by the Christmas Concert at the Egyptian Theatre in Coos Bay. They have traditional big brass band music and more. Best of all, it’s free!
