Portland is home to some very cool dads. One part hero and two parts role model, our cool dads are an impressive array of men living, working and raising their kids in this fair city. So what makes these guys cool? They love their partners, successfully maintain a work/life balance, and they bring their A-game to their jobs. Read on to discover cool dads who make our city more awesome.

Dr. James Kyser

Dr. James Kyser, Pediatric Cardiologist at Pediatric Cardiac Center of Oregon and Randall Children's Hospital

Doctor Kyser is a man of action. On a daily basis he helps heal kiddo hearts. He brought interventional techniques to his Portland practice such that now he can close holes in hearts, open blocked valves, stent small or kinked arteries and even place new valves in the heart via a vessel in the hip. No more open-heart surgeries! All of this is done in a cath lab and best of all - most of the kids go home the same day or have, at most, an overnight stay. His office walls are covered with photos of the MANY kids he has helped to heal (who have come from as far away as Alaska) as well as shots of his own kiddos. When he is not changing lives at work, he is the proud papa to two boys and their basketball coach to boot. This Beaverton dad makes time to grill, watch movies, play sports, and most of all be with his sons. There are no words (and we are rarely at a loss for words) to describe his daily actions except maybe to say that actions speak far louder than words.

To all the Top Pops and Rad Dads out there in Portland, we salute you as well! Let us know who else we should add to our list in the comment section below.
