If you have a little boy with an upcoming birthday in Portland, you’ll love these birthday party ideas that have B-O-Y written all over them (not that little girls can’t enjoy these as well!). From dinosaurs to super heroes to a visit with an actual firefighter, make this a party that your birthday boy won’t forget. And you’ll be thankful that all of the planning is taken care of–it’s a win-win!

For the Super Hero Loving Boy

Birthday boys who would love a party filled with super-heroes will love celebrating at Play Boutique in Lake Oswego. They’ll help create a custom birthday party experience that he’ll remember for birthdays to come.

Activities include: A fantastic space for kids to play and bounce! They really have everything here – dress up, crafts, toys, a big tree house and much more. You get to pick your theme based on whatever your little guy is currently obsessed with and they will help tailor the activities of the party towards that theme.

They provide: For the most basic party, they provide just the space, but packages are available where all you have to do is show up!

You bring: Varies, based on the party options you choose.

Cost: Packages start at $85 plus $5 for each child and run up to $275 for a party of ten children. Additional kids will cost extra. They also have an awesome a la carte menu so that you can add on things that you’d like them to take care of like invitations or balloons.

To book: Call 503-675-PLAY (7529) or email info@playboutique.com.

For the Boy with Endless Energy

Let’s be honest – little boys have energy for days! Not into having a dozen of them running wild in your house? Check out a party at Sky High Sports where the floors and walls are trampolines!

Activities include: Two-hours for jumping and party activities!

They provide: Pizza, bottled water, plates and napkins, invitations (you print them from the web) and set-up assistance. Plus, they do all the clean up!

You bring: Cake! Other outside food and drinks are not allowed, so what they provide (pizza and bottled water) is really the only option. You can also bring balloon and party favors.

Cost: Starting at $200 for ten jumpers at a weekday party.

For the Fire Truck Loving Boy

If your little guy squeals every time a fire truck is within earshot, a birthday party at Portland’s historic Belmont Firehouse will be a hit!

Activities include: A tour of the firehouse (including a fire truck), visit to the fire safety museum, time with a real firefighter, and a slide down an actual fire pole!

They provide: The space only.

You bring: Cake, drinks, food – whatever you’d like!

Cost: Varies – please call for detailed information.

For the Boy with A Limitless Imagination

If your little man spends hours playing with toys and constructing massive architectural marvels out of building blocks, then a party at The LEGO Store is right up his alley. While the LEGO store doesn’t host exclusive birthday parties, they do have two monthly build meetings that offer kids the chance to make their very own creations.

Activities include: At the monthly club meetings (typically the 3rd Saturday of the month Jan-Oct) kids can come in and build based around a theme for the day. After your little builders have created their masterpieces, they can share them with the group.

Or, every Tuesday from 5:00pm – 7:00pm kids can come in and learn how to build a cool mini model, and take it home – for free!

They provide: The space, LEGOs, and helpful staff.

You bring: cake, food, and drinks. While these are not allowed in the store, find a spot in the food court and settle in with some birthday cake and treats for the kiddos.

Cost: The Monthly Mini Build is free, but call to check availability of Monthly Builder Club Meetings and cost.

Activities include: Supervised play in their private indoor arenas, filled with gigantic inflatable slides, bounce houses, and obstacle courses.

They provide: A supervised play area, a party room to enjoy pizza and cake. They even take care of all the cleanup.

You bring: Dessert and dry snacks, or you can pay a little extra and they’ll provide pizza and drinks for the birthday goers.
