Give yourself a pat on the back, Mom and Dad, you got through the holidays and even created wonderful memories for your kids! Now we can look forward to a little less chaos (maybe?) and get out for some adventures with our little dumplin’s! The neighborhood libraries around town have been busy creating lots of fun and educational events for preschoolers. This weekend offers music time with Mr. Ben at Albina Library, a creature collage-making event at Capitol Hill Library, a Magic Tree House Adventures party at Fairview-Columbia Library, and an 8-session building blocks to literacy program at Gresham Library. In preparation for the Chinese New Year, there’s free admission to Lan Su Chinese Garden and the brillaint Shen Yun performance is in town. Finally, there’s a chance to make ceramic keepsakes, a production that has a fresh take on the big, bad wolf, and a LEGO building extravaganza.
If you’ve got a preschooler who will be heading to kindergarten next Fall, you might want to check out Portland Waldorf School in Milwaukie. They are holding a Winter Wonderland Tea Party on Saturday where you can play, decorate cookies, make a felt soap bar with their early childhood teachers, and experience the magic of their Waldorf kindergarten. Enjoy your weekend!
