Still mourning the end of summer break? Gather the kids cuz this weekend offers up lots of family-friendly outings that are sure to put smiles on your faces! There’s a street fair and firehouse open house in Belmont, an organic festival, a benefit concert with three favorite kid’s musical artists, a birthday celebration in Beaverton, and a chance to honor kids who have been so brave in fighting a serious illness.

Muddy Boot Organic Festival Celebrate local organic foods and sustainable living. This outdoor festival offers plenty of eco-friendly fun for the wee ones: veggie derby car racing, foam arrow archery, apple pressing, puppet-making workshop, and much more! Belmont Street Fair This fair is sure to be a hit with the trolley rides alone! “Safety Saturday” at the Historic Belmont Firehouse Check out the old Belmont firehouse and sit in a real fire truck where you can watch a simulation of a call for help! Celebration of Courage Celebrate the heroism of the children and families served by the Children’s Cancer Association. Enjoy live music, fantastic food, gift walk, carnival games, silent auction, arts and crafts. The 2010 Wall of Courage display also will be unveiled and features 25 local children and teens selected for their grace and courage in battling a serious illness. Many Hands CD Benefit Concert Come dance to the groovin’ tunes of Randy Kaplan, Johnny Bregar and Recess Monkey! Not only do you get to experience all of these awesome kid’s artists in one place, this concert benefits The Haitian People’s Support Project. The Many Hands CD released in August and features these three artists plus Pete Seeger, Dan Zanes, Elizabeth Mitchell and Haitian performers. Happy Birthday Beaverton Library The Beaverton Library turns 10 this month! To celebrate, there are ten days of events happening, from September 10 to 19.
