Can you believe this is the last weekend before many Portland-area kids go back to school? Whether your family is making the most of this weekend by heading out for one last summer beach frolic, camping trip, or out-of-town adventure, there’s plenty to do for those who choose to enjoy a quality staycation! We’ve got great deals on admission to OMSI and Portland Children’s Museum, classical music in a gorgeous park, art in downtown Milwaukie, and two storytimes.
There’s also a great volunteer opportunity to help support the Portland Parks & Recreation Pesticide-free Parks Program. We are lucky to have dedicated parks where we can let our kids roll in the grass, play soccer or picnic without worrying about the dangerous effects of pesticides. Join other volunteers and Parks staff to pull weeds, mulch planting beds, and learn about other ways you can get involved with pesticide-free parks. Arbor Lodge Park has a work party the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Sewallcrest Park the first Sunday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.
