Adventures await Portland families this weekend! Enter the world of Russian folklore with Baba Yaga at Tears of Joy Theatre—an exciting musical journey into a magical forest. Or experience another type of forest adventure: Listen for the call of coyotes at Family Coyote Night at Tryon Creek. More of an early bird? Explore Sauvie Island in search of magnificent eagles, hawks, and falcons that spend the winter here. On this special day devoted to raptors, experienced naturalists and hawk experts will host activities at four locations around the island. Pick up a provided map at Kruger’s Farm Market, then you choose where to go to enjoy guided bird viewing, meet live raptors up close, and see hawk identification displays. Hot drinks and donuts will be available in the morning. Sat. 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. $10/car. All. Event details.

Tears of Joy Theatre: Baba Yaga
Baba Yaga stuffs Marusia and the Hedgehog Prince into a stewpot. To win their freedom, Marusia and Hedgehog set out on a quest for the magical black sunflower that is guarded by a fearsome dragon. This lively musical features unforgettable songs as well as a chicken-legged house on stilts, and a masked dragon! Feb 3-12. Fridays at 7:30pm Saturdays at 11:00am Sundays at 2:00 pm & 4:00 pm. $17-$20. Best enjoyed by ages 3 and up. Event details.

Family Coyote Night
Families will have the opportunity to learn about coyote adaptations which makes them successful rural and urban dwellers, listen to coyote stories, make a coyote storytelling plank hat, and join one of our Nature Guides on an evening hike in the forest to listen for our resident coyotes. Sat. 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Shoehorn Kids’ Jam at Mississippi Pizza
Shoehorn does his popular all-ages one man show and lets the kids get up to play percussion and dance on some numbers! Great fun and a wonderful way to discover your child’s hidden talent. Sat. 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm. $5 donation per family appreciated. Ages 1-5. Event details.


Mother-Daughter Valentine Tea and Art Party
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. In lieu of the traditional chocolate hearts, try making a some handmade stationary or a spring wreath that will show that special someone how you really feel about them. Pre-registration required. Sun. 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. $30 per person, $55 for two, or $80 for three. Ages 4 and up. Event details.

Superbowl Drop and Watch
Looking for a fun place to take the kids while you go off and watch the game with friends? Bring them down to join our Super Bowl fun.
