Mississippi Ave. Street Fair
A parade, 40 live music acts, 200 vendors and a dunk tank (!) make this one of the best-attended street fairs in Portland. Sat., 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Free, All Ages. Event details.

Drop Anchor at the Wooden Boat Festival
Come sail away with this fifth annual family boat building competition and demonstration. Watch teams launch finished projects, then build your own toy sailboat, take sailboat rides, check out live music and see a classic wooden boat show. Sun., 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Free, All Ages. Event details.

Around the World With Puppets
Take a journey through time and space as the puppets present the historical, musical, educaitonal and fun-filled facts of the worldwide story of puppetry in this hands-on, interactive show. 2 p.m. Sat., 4 p.m. Sun., $8/person, Ages 5 & up. Event details.

West Side

Muddy Obstacle Course
Check your soap and detergent supply.  You’re going to need a lot of it. The Subaru Kids Obstacle Course Challenge will have kids (and adults) running through tires, swinging on ropes over mud puddles, crawling through mud and more on the 3/4 mile track with 10 obstacles designed by Eight 18 Productions and the Army National Guard. Sat., 9 a.m.-2 p.m., $40/participating child (parents free), Ages 5-16. Event details.

Summa Carnival
Summa Carnival offers up an end-of-the-year party with face-painting, a water balloon toss, barbeque and a dunk tank. Friends, family and appetites for food and fun are welcome. Sat., noon to 3 p.m., All Ages. Event details.
