Check Out Portland Kids’ Film Festival
The third annual Portland Kids’ Film Festival will be held March 2nd- 4th at The Hollywood Theatre and The Clinton Street Theatre. This year’s film line up will include both animated and live action films for kids ages 3-15 and their families. Don’t Miss the Kids Film Festival
The Kids Film Festival screens movies made by youth. Submissions are open to all ages from toddlers, middle school, high school teens to college students. The Festival spotlights stories from around the world and doesn’t have any requirement of genre or theme.
The Festival kicks off with a one-day “Future Filmmakers” expo that gives attendees the opportunity to meet with colleges, film schools, acting troops and instructors, talent agents, summer camps, camera rental houses, film internship programs, current job opportunities, film festivals and more. Spend an Afternoon at the Theater
From March 3rd through 25th you can watch the story of Cassius Clay, known to many as Muhammad Ali. This play, put on by the Oregon Children’s Theater, tells the story of how 12 year old Cassius becomes one of the greatest boxers and civil rights advocates of our time. The play is written by award-winning playwright, Idris Goodwin and is a must see! Recommended for kids ages 8 and up. Sat. & Sun. Event Details.
Become a Part of the Timbers Army
If you are a family of passionate soccer players add your voice to the thousands of Timber Army fanatics! Learn the songs, wave the scarves, and throw the confetti! Attend the Emergency Preparedness Fair
The Emergency Preparedness Fair, sponsored by SW Neighborhoods, Inc. (SWNI) will take place in the auditorium of the Multnomah Arts Center (7688 SW Capitol Highway, Portland, OR 97219). Neighborhood Emergency Teams (NETs), formed by the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) will offer, among other things, emergency food ideas, gas meter turn-off demonstrations, and solutions for water storage, purification and water safety. Local emergency-related organizations like NW Natural Gas, Andy and Bax, Portland Fire & Rescue, Cascadia Quake Kits and NW Seismic will have display materials on hand, while Tim Collins, Senior Engineer at the Portland Water Bureau will give a presentation at 1 pm discussing Portland’s present water supply system and what is being done to improve its vulnerability to a seismic event. Attend Pizza With The Princesses
Meet Snow White, Beauty, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Prince Charming, and Beauty’s prince! There will be pizza, punch, photo ops, interactive dancing, activities, and a performance by the princesses and princes. Help raise money for the performing arts department at Sam Barlow High School, so students can attend the International Thespian Festival competition in Omaha, Nebraska and Choir Tour to Seattle, Washington.
