Prepare to Be Enchanted With Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai
Cirque’s latest offering, Varekai: Tales of the Forest, is all about winged and scaled performers-turned-enchanted-creatures showing off their unbelievable acrobatic skills, mixed with athletics and dance, set to music. The action ranges from acrobatics performed high in the air on silks to handsprings across the stage in this breathtaking show. Sat.&Sun., various start times, $31.75-$150, All Ages. Event details.

Street Festival Kickoff: St. Johns’ Bizarre and Parade
The bizarre kicks-off Portland’s street fair season with performances by an eclectic lineup of local bands, dozens of craft vendors and artists, and a beer garden featuring Occidental Brewing Company and Barrique Barrel. And, as always, the bizarre takes place on the same day as the historic St. Johns Parade, a North Portland favorite for 54 years. Sat., 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Free, All Ages. Event details.

Pedal Power! Sunday Parkways – East
Pack up the family and bike, walk or roller skate under your own power around 7 miles of car-free city streets through East Portland. Stop at the new Foster Floodplain Natural Area, as well as Glenwood, Bloomington and Ed Benedict Parks for food, music and other vendors for everything from bike repair to Zumba. Sun., 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Free, All Ages. Event details.

West Side

You Know You Want to Run Like a Mother
Come join a group of active mothers on a 5K run. Runners can make a donation to the unique charity when they register for the race. Registration is required for the 5K race and six-week training program. Note: there is no race day registration. Sun., 8 a.m.-2 p.m., $25/child; $45/adult, All Ages. Event details.

Run With Fido at Doggie Dash
The whole family can join in the fun by running or walking the kid and pet-friendly courses. All spectators and dog lovers are welcome to check out the pet clinics, vendors, music and take part in the canine contest. 100% of proceeds benefit OHS. Head Down Klickitat Street With OCT’s Ramona Quimby
Beverly Cleary’s award-winning series comes to life on stage as the beloved characters, Ramona and Beezus, share the ups and downs of growing up in a middle class family. Ramona is a third-grader and realizes that school is becoming a lot more serious. Big changes are happening with the family too. Find out how Ramona and Beezus help navigate the bumps in the road.
