Dive Into Blue Lake Park Day’s International Food Festival
Take a bite out of summer with international food vendors and music performances from all over the world. Especially for kids, they’ll have free mini disc-golf, free face-painting and a free supervised rock wall. On top of those things, the park has, of course, the lake itself, a swim beach, a splash pad, a nature playground, a volleyball court and a full disc-golf course, in addition to walking paths and a natural discovery garden. Kids Dig The Pumpkin Patch Harvest Festival
The Pumpkin Patch is throwing open the barn doors for its annual Labor Day weekend Harvest Festival and grand opening of The Maize. The Produce Market, Animal Barn, Gift Shop and Patio Cafe will be open, and hayrides will haul U-pick pumpkin hunters out to the big pumpkin fields. There’s also a bumpy cow train ride and an amazing hay pyramid that kids are free to jump around on for as long as you’ll let them. Near the pyramid, is a small U-pick pumpkin field if you just want to take home some itty bitty pumpkins. Sat.-Mon., 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Free admission, All Ages. Event details.
Get Crafty at Art in the Pearl
100 artists with everything from fine wooden furniture to photographs, will be showing and selling their work for this year’s Art in the Pearl. In addition to a lovely stroll through the northwest park blocks, families can enjoy live music and an Education Pavillion featuring cool hands-on art activities geared toward kids and adults. See Maleficent in the Park
Grab a blanket or some low chairs and grab some free popcorn for this movie in the park, featuring”Maleficent,” rated PG. Pre-movie entertainment will be provided by local musician, Danny Black. Volunteer to Restore Tryon Creek Ravine
Grab your kids and join the Friends of Tryon Creek for a special Stewardship Saturday event. In addition to an ivy pull, there will be a catered lunch, fun giveaways from Merrell and a raffle. Registration required. Sat., 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Free, Ages 6 & up. Event details.
