Artichoke Music

If your child is dying to learn how to play the ukelele, Artichoke Music is the place to do it. Known for their welcoming atmosphere and acceptance of all musicians and musicians-to-be, the staff is eager to put instruments in the hands of those who wish to explore. In addition to ukulele group lessons after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, they also offer private lessons in ukulele, guitar, percussion, and other instruments of choice. Artichoke is more than just a music school; their music store has a loyal community of its own, with customers who return for their high-quality instruments and musical accessories. Possibly the best-kept secret of Artichoke Music is the small, intimate venue in the building, called “Cafe Artichoke,” where Friday night coffeehouse sessions are popular.

Located in SE on Hawthorne Blvd., Artichoke Music is a SE neighborhood treasure. If your child has an eclectic taste for music or an interest in off-beat Portland establishments, this is definitely a music school to check out.
