Who needs to jet set to a tropical island when Portland has plenty of excitement, like tram rides with a bird’s-eye view, berry patches and sandy beach trips within a stone’s throw of home? Read on to discover eight close-to-home adventures that’ll make your summer unforgettable.

2. Meander Through a Museum

A museum? But it’s summer and who wants to be closed in? Well you won’t have to be when you check out the Portland Children’s Museum and its popular exhibit, Outdoor Adventures, which opened last year. While we’ve always loved the Portland Children’s Museum for its grocery store, café and dress-up options that scream “kid fun,” this outdoor space is genius. Your kiddo can get back to nature as they climb trees, build a fort, dig in the dirt and play in the mud. Grab a friend, a cup of coffee and a shady spot and let the kiddos explore.
