It’s official! Okay, it was already official. But now Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have released their official engagement photos, making it even more official, officially. Is that enough official-ness for you? Good—because the couldn’t-be-cuter couple’s photos aren’t exactly “official” enough for some people. Check out what the internet has to say about the newly engaged pairs’ pics.
The royal engagement photos where taken at Frogmore House in Windsor by celebrity fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski. And they are gorgeous. Seriously. So what’s the problem with the photos and why is everyone buzzing about them?
As it turns out some people aren’t exactly thrilled with Markle’s choice of dress. In one pic the bride-to-be is wearing a sheer top that some deem inappropriate for a royal. Of course, the sheer top in question is part of a $75,000 Ralph & Russo gown. Hmm.
Some people are also comparing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s photos to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s official engagement pictures. More specifically, they’re comparing Markle’s skin-bearing top with Middleton’s more conservative choice of dress. Hey, every duchess can’t be the same, right? And *insert eye roll here*is Markle’s top really THAT revealing? (No, it’s not.)
If you’re not into the super-expensive sheer designer dress, the couple also released a sweetly snuggly pic. And don’t fret, there’s no need for a full-on Internet uproar over this one. Markle is wearing a sweater that covers absolutely everything.
