If you want to get outdoors with your family but don’t want to break the bank on camping gear, REI’s Used Gear store could be just what you’re looking for. Rolled out as a beta program last year, REI has just announced that its Used Gear program is expanding and here to stay.

Everything from clothing and shoes to sleeping bags and tents can be purchased at significantly lower prices. Despite being labeled as used, everything for sale is in tip-top shape. According to REI, products in the Used Gear shop are discounted as much as 65 percent off of original prices.

When customers return items to REI, these items go through a rigorous inspection process and items that are in excellent condition will be cleaned and put up for sale at a discounted price. The Used Gear store is available online only. You can browse the website through three different categories, including Women’s Used Clothing, Men’s Used Clothing and Used Gear.

Not only does this help consumers save money, it also helps the planet. Instead of ending up in a landfill, items can continue to serve their purpose and less new gear needs to be manufactured, which means less waste and pollution overall.
