Whether you’re a local or a tourist, a visit to the charming town of Tiburon is a refreshing adventure. Rich in history, Ark Row has an enchanting, dream-like quality that not many other areas possess.  Located off Tiburon’s historic and chic Main Street, this quaint string of shops got its name because of the 1890’s recreational houseboat lifestyle enjoyed in Belvedere Cove by sea captains, bohemian artists, and summer residents from San Francisco. The scenic Ark Row shops are actually housed in turn of the century boathouses that were converted into homes and shops when the lagoon between the Tiburon peninsula and the neighboring island of Belvedere was filled in.  While you and the kiddos are taking a leisurely stroll along the picturesque Tiburon streets, be sure not to miss the assortment of fun shops and galleries that make up this intriguing pocket of Main Street. Kids will love watching the sailboats go by, while parents admire the fine arts and crafts, and custom made jewelry by local artisans on display in the windows. Families can browse the stylish designer clothing boutiques in this area or rummage through the Tiburon Thrift Shop, which supports local nonprofits with its sales. But don’t miss the view while you’re window-shopping! The vista from Ark Row is among the best in the Bay. Ark Row is easily accessible by boat, bus, or car.  Parking is available at the Ark Row Parking lot at the end of Main Street ($2/hour).
