Living in the Bay Area has lots of perks but it doesn’t always include enough space to grow your own garden’s worth of vegetables. Lucky for us we’ve got Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs in abundance, allowing families farm-direct access to the full spectrum of fresh fruits, veggies and grains delivered right to your door. Click through to see all our fresh picks for best CSA boxes!
Just come on down to the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market or a variety of other sites to pick up your weekly fix of Eatwell's divine fruits and vegetables. It's certainly worth the trip! Fragrant basil and pungent garlic give us an immediate idea for a dinner pesto to pour over bowtie pasta for the gang. What's dubbed a Stir Fry mix of micro mixed greens beckons, and just in case you're short on ideas of what to do with all that beautiful fruit there's some easy suggestions for Summer Galettes. This farm, based just outside Dixon, produces Food for the Body and Soul, and that means they personally grow 85% or more of every single thing in their boxes. Since they grow hundreds of varieties of fruits & veggies: sometimes you might find a little something in the box you maybe haven't seen before. So it's a nice touch that Eatwell always provides information on identifying items, how to store them and what to cook first based on perishability.
Cost: They recommend you start with a four-box trial subscription, which costs $116.00 ($132.00 with a half dozen eggs or $148.00 with a dozen). After that there's an option for 12 boxes, with the 13th free, for $348.00 ($400.00 with a half dozen and $452.00 with a dozen).
