San Francisco

Sunset Spin on the Creativity Carousel
Join Red Tricycle in celebrating the launch of the our App! We’ll be commandeering the carousel at the Children’s Creativity Museum so you can enjoy unlimited rides along with light finger foods and play in the museum’s Community Lab. Sat., 5-7 p.m. San Francisco. $10. All ages. Event details.

SF vs. Oakland Basketball Shoot Out
SF and Oakland’s best streetballers shoot it out in three fast-paced 4×4 matches, a 16-second clock, and 90 total minutes of high-intensity hoops. There will also be DJs and beer and wine for purchase. Sat., 3:30-6:30 p.m. San Francisco. $10. All ages. Event details.

Sea Chanty on a Historic Ship
Sailors and scallywags alike gather around for an evening of traditional sea songs. Park rangers lead the public in traditional sea-faring tunes, with plenty of time to hang out aboard one of the historic ships docked at the port. It may be a bit late for the very-littles, but for your would-be pirates, sailors, and stars, it’s an evening not to miss. Event is free but please RSVP. Sat., 8 p.m. San Francisco. Free. All ages. Chinatown Community Street Fair
Held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Parade (Mar. 7) this community fair lasts all weekend. Crafts including kite and lantern making and calligraphy, puppet shows, folk dances, acrobats, lion dancing, magic demos and more! Sat.,10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sun., 9 a.m.-5 p.m. San Francisco. Free. Magic Flute for Families
A 60-minute movie redux of Mozart’s famous opera, kids will love the story of the beautiful princess Pamina and the journey to rescue her. The film is of the production for families by the SF Opera in 2007. Sat., 3-4:15 p.m. Berkeley. Free. All ages. Event details.

Shattered Circus with Kinetic Arts
See the Circus Spire Youth Troupe and the creative team from Kinetic Arts Center for Shattered Circus. See jugglers, aerialists, acrobats, and  clowns tell the story of a mind shattering into pieces and coming together again. Saturday 4 & 8 p.m. and Sunday 1 & 5 p.m. Oakland. $15-$40. 3 and up. Dr. Seuss’ Birthday at Playland
A big hip, hip hooray for dear Dr. Seuss, whose birthday is this weekend so let’s all cut loose! Help find his characters hidden here, hidden there, and prizes will go to kids everywhere! Enjoy Seuss-y fun at Playland-Not-at-the-Beach all weekend long, as well as pinball and carnival games Thing 1 and Thing 2 could really get behind. The National Forest Foundation presents a Songwriter Supper

Pajama Party at Diesel, A Bookstore
Put on your PJs and grab your teddy bear and head to Diesel at the Marin Country Mart. Author of The Quiet Book, Part-Time Princess, and beloved kid’s books Deborah Underwood will read a bedtime story to the kiddos in front of the cozy fireplace. Spring Wake-Up at McInnis Park
Enjoy a one-mile family walk to check out birds and gorgeous views, take a free Zumba class, play games, and taste some healthy snacks. Water is also provided. Three Little Birds
If you missed this modern day fairy tale in Berkeley, it’s now in Marin!
