San Francisco

Family Folk Dance Night
Love to move to the music? Looking for a fun family night out? The answer to both of these questions is the Family Folk Dance Night! It only happens the third Friday of every month and that’s this weekend! Learn dances from around the world, eat tasty snacks, and enjoy the company of other fab families. The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day
In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf…it’s that opening line you’ve loved since childhood. Join San Francisco book publisher Chronicle Books in celebrating Eric Carle’s iconic The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This family event includes a read-aloud corner for storytelling, a craft station where kids can create their own section of the caterpillar as part of a community garland, and even cookies and milk for the  kiddos (and coffee for the grown-ups)! Ventriloquist Steve Chaney at Randall Museum Theater
The Buddy Club is full of giggles and guffaws and this weekends performance with ventriloquist Steve Chaney and his Puppet Cornelius Crowe is  no exception. Head over to the Randall Museum’s theater to enjoy this show, then check out some of the museums cool exhibits and the breathtaking views from the top of Corona Heights. Toddler Ramble at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center

Roughing It Day Camp Open House
Head to the Lafayette Reservoir to check out the Roughing It Day Camp sampler. You can check out fishing, crafts, nature & field games, tour the site, watch a Camp Show, and meet the directors and some of the staff. You’ll get an idea of what a typical day at camp is like, and have fun doing it. Camp options for kids ages 3-16 mean the whole family can check it out! Sat., 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Lafayette. Free. Tea Collection Morocco Art Party at Nordstroms
Travel across the globe to Morocco and create art inspired by this beautiful place. Kids can get creative and turn their art into a magnet, and enter to win a contest to have their art transferred to a real canvas. At noon, Emily Meyer, co-founder and CCO of Tea Collection children’s clothing, will come join the fun and share her inspiration for the Spring 2014 Morocco collection. The San Francisco Flower and Garden Show
The San Francisco Garden Show is here and it’s a great place to take the kids to explore some of the most beautiful demo gardens in the state. There’s a whole section of gardens designed by and for kids,a bug zone, a planting zone, a compost zone, and an edible garden section. Not to mention hundreds of other garden displays, from eccentric to classic. Parents will love the seminars and demos they offer. The Saratoga Blossom Festival
Celebrate the beauty of spring among the blooms of the Saratoga Heritage Orchard and Civic Center. Music from the 1930′s and ’40s, vintage farm motors and antique cars, kid’s crafts, local art, food trucks, poetry, and a blossom and garden tour, all part of a celebration that has taken place for more than forty years! Bi-lingual Nature Walk on Deer Island
