It’s Mother’s Day So, Take a Hike
Celebrate Mother’s Day by honoring some of the incredible women who have lived in, worked in and fought for the Big Basin. Meet pioneer homemaker Alice Maddock; Josephine McCrackin (the “Savior of the Redwoods”) and Harriet “Petey” Weaver, the first female Ranger. Interpreter Susan Blake portrays these inspiring women on this half-mile, one-hour living history walking show. Sun. Event details.

Brunch Plus Train Equals Win-Win on Mother’s Day
Treat you and mom to something special on Mother’s Day. Kids will love cruising on the steam train through the forest. Moms will love a special brunch served at Bret Harte Hall with live music by Pat Hull. Brunch is served from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (last seating at 1 p.m.). Slither on over to Rancho Del Oso for an incredible event all about snakes. You’ll learn the importance of snakes and get personal, such as how do they taste, smell, see and hear. Docent Diane Shaw will give a talk about snakes and Naturalist Jeremy Lin will lead a short informative hike to find snakes and other reptiles.
