The vases in the back of your cupboard have been accumulating dust ever since the little ones showed up, and even though Valentine’s Day comes once a year, your sweetie might not even know where the flower shop is anymore. Don’t worry! Valentine’s Day is a great day to spend with the whole family, even the little ones whose happy smiles are a sweet replacement for roses and boxes of chocolates. Dance at a concert, have a tea party, or make an edible card. Here are some fun things to do this Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day Tea for Kids
Celebrating Valentine’s Day with the little ones is less about romance and more about fun – and nothing spells fun like a tea party, complete with finger sandwiches and hot drinks brewed with herbs and flowers. Even the valentines you’ll make together will include goodies from the garden!

Decorate an Edible Valentine
Everyone knows that Valentine’s Day is about giving sweets to your sweethearts. In lieu of the traditional cards, try making an edible card to give to your Valentine this year. Using chocolate and cookies, make a card and decorate with icing, chocolates, and other sweets.

St. Valentine’s Day Festival at the Farmer’s Market
Face painting and pony rides are always a good time, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Of course, there are cupcakes and old fashioned valentines at this farmer’s market celebration too. Activities will include, sugar cookie decorating, old fashioned valentine making with complimentary postage, an old fashioned photo stand, face painting, pony rides, and kids music. Plus enjoy shopping for delicious local produce, cheese, eggs, meat, seafood, and don’t forget flowers and artisan confections!

Make One-of-a-Kind Valentine’s Cards
While the storebought Valentine’s Day cards are great for friends and classmates, your kiddo might want to make a special card for that extra-special person (ahem, mom and dad). They can create unique Valentine’s Day cards using stamps, stencils, collage, printmaking and more. Envelopes will be provided for the cards, and snacks and beverages are included.

Time/Cost: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on February 10; $30 per adult/child pair
Location: San Francisco Children’s Art Center, Fort Mason Center, San Francisco

Valentine’s Day Doll Party
Your kids already go everywhere with their favorite stuffed animal or toy, so why not celebrate Valentine’s Day with their special little plaything? Kids can bring their favorite doll or teddy bear to tea. Kids can snuggle with their toys while enjoying refreshments and a story. Then make a special craft that your little ones can take home.
