300 Beacon St.
San Francisco, Ca 94131

Many a San Franciscan deems the view from the top of Billy Goat Hill to be one of the best in the city, and we tend to agree. Take your little rascal up to the top with a picnic lunch or a Frisbee, and enjoy these expansive, breathtaking views! The park consists of a fairly steep (but manageable) hillside on the east side of Diamond Heights. There is a single trail that stretches from Beacon Street down to the 30th Street cul-de-sac, which winds through some rare, native California plants and trees, (as well as some non-native eucalyptus.) Once you arrive at the top, you may spot a legendary rope swing, but this is definitely a look and no-touch for kiddos, as it swings out over a steep incline. Billy Goat Hill is a rare find in the city, as it feels separate and secluded; like other parks in the area, Billy Goat has great views of San Francisco, but it feels light years away from the city bustle, and you won’t meet any tourists.  All in all, a great spot to take a break for a ramble with kids, and the perfect sort of slice of SF we like to share with others; the experience is unexpected, intimate, and subtle.
