For parents who grew up in the seventies and eighties on baseball cards and Lincoln Logs, a visit to the Collector’s Cave can feel like stepping into a time machine. Looking for that toy you had when you were a kid that you loved so hard it broke? This is the place! It’s fun just to stop in and browse with your own kids, pointing out the stuff you played with back in the day. And it’s a must for comic book geek dads trying to pass on the passion to their kids, since the Collector’s Cave has a big selection new and vintage comics. While they may not be ecologically sound or made with organic materials (although some are,) the vintage toys here drip with nostalgia and delight. Other items include old-fashioned games, collectibles, trading cards of all sorts, and one of the biggest selections of Legos we’ve seen outside of a Toys R Us. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. What more could you ask for? The Cave is a wonderful and unexpected place to take a trip down memory lane in the middle of the busy Union Street boutiques.
