It’s hard to resist frozen yogurt, even on the foggy chilly days SF is known for. Add the magic of self-serve, and the experience becomes even more tempting. There’s something about actually being able to pull the handles on the machines and make the yogurt swirl out in colorful whorls that makes the kid inside us jump up and down in excitement. Needless to say, actual kids love Cultivé too—and have been known to actually jump up and down in excitement when reaching for the chocolate swirl. And while most yogurt shops serve yogurt that is little more than processed sugar, Cultivé distinguishes itself from the rest of the pack by offering real yogurt with active cultures that make it good for your digestion. Who knew a health food could be covered in Oreo bits? While Cultivé got its start in Davis and Sacramento, their lone Union St. outpost has already become a Marina favorite. It sports a clean modern interior with gleaming fro-yo machines against one wall that allow you pick from or combine a dozen or so delicious flavors. We recommend you sample as many as you fancy (but the cake batter may be their best.) When you’re done hit up the topping bar for fresh fruit or gummi bears and then weigh your cup on the scale to find out what you owe. A word of warning though: cups are large (and it can be easy to get carried away with all the options,) so you may want to share, especially if you have small kids whose eyes may be bigger then their stomachs.
