Have a kiddo who loves asking soul-searching questions? Enjoy a good brain game? If you answered ‘yes’ to either of those questions, head to Menlo Park and check out this new mind-bending exhibit The Institute Presents: Neurosociety! created by duo David Byrne (yes, that David Byrne) and Mala Gaonkar.
A Brainy Experience
Pace Art + Technology is back at it again with The Institute Presents: Neurosociety (Their last exhibit was pretty much the coolest thing to happen in 2016). And boy oh boy, it does not disappoint! Visitors, in groups of ten or less, will be guided through four enclosed areas (or rooms) of the venue. Each room will offer a different cognitive experiment. All visitors on the tour will participate in what they call immersive theatrical demonstrations and experiments. Note: tours are lead by actors and not actual scientists.
What to Expect
Visitors will experience a number of different experiments. You will see a scientist float upward into thin air, transfer your consciousness into a doll, predict election results of politicians, experience optical Illusions, and even put your moral compass to the test via hypothetical simulations. This once in a lifetime neuroscience experience is perfect for children ages 10 and up. (Yes, that was a Talking Heads reference).
The Institute Presents: Neurosociety collaborated with fifteen cognitive neuroscience labs from around the world, including Cornell University, Harvard University, Princeton University, Yale University, and California Institute of Technology to create this exhibit, so while there is a bit of theater involved, the research behind the fun is completely legit. And we promise you have never experienced anything like it before!
The Institute Presents: Neurosociety is an 80 minute theatrical experience recommended for participants who are 10 years old and older.
