Take the kids to CuriOdyssey (formerly known as the Coyote Point Museum) and the nearby Magic Mountain playground, and you’ll find yourself promising to take them back. The museum is chock full of activities (many of them indoors) that will keep little ones entertained — from the hands-on Tinkering exhibit, the super-popular wildlife shows (you’ll need a ticket) to daily bobcat and otter feedings. Watch the bobcats and otters being fed, and explore the beautiful butterfly and hummingbird gardens.

Go on a Tuesday morning, and enjoy a story, an animal presentation, or exploration activity with your 2 to 5 year old. Browse the museum store, which carries a great collection of educational toys; your purchases fund the museum’s upkeep. Bring lunch and eat at one of the many picnic tables outside, or head to the Poplar Creek Grill on the nearby golf course.

Once the kiddies are fed, burn off some energy at the nearby Magic Mountain playground. Kids will love the castle and dragon theme, with plenty of slides, swings, and rocking horses, as well as grass and soft surfaces to run and play on. There are restrooms, and separate play spaces for babies/tots, and older kids. The Coyote Point Recreational Area can be windy, so remember to bundle up.
