Family Fun at Point Isabel

Remember life before kids, when your dog was the family baby? Time for a family outing that’s just as much fun for Fido as it is for the kids. People are always surprised to discover that the biggest dog park in the country is right here in the animal-friendly Bay. Point Isabel in Richmond, boasts 23 acres of off-leash fun for the pooch. Dogs that love to swim and fetch (or both at the same time), will jump right into The Hoffman Channel along the center of the park, where they’ll be safe from high tides and rough seas.

No one loves the family dog as much as the kids do, and they won’t be left out of the fun. There are picnic tables at the park for snacking, open fields for throwing the Frisbee or just romping around, and rocks by the shore in which to hunt for hermit crabs. Cookies and ice cream are on call at the on-site Sit & Stay Café.

Before you take your muddy creatures back on board the car, remember that Point Isabel has a spa experience just for dogs. Take ‘em home nice and clean after a dog washing (do-it-yourself service available) at Mudpuppy’s (right next to the café), where you can throw in a dog toy or treat for your best friend.

Point Isabel is located at 2701 Isabel Street in Richmond.
