trend of connecting the dots from farms to the food on the table, many parents are interested in exposing their kids to If you want your children to see the links in your food chain hit the Weekend Along Farm Trails event in Sonoma County during the weekend of September 25 & 26.
Celebrate the harvest season with a cornucopia full of fun and educational activities. For $25 per car load you and your family can visit farms, restaurants and wineries. Passes can be purchased online at farmtrails.org or by calling 1-888-255-1223. The pass covers both days so you’ll have plenty of time to get your hands dirty in a wide variety of activities each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Get up close and personal with miniature horses, boer and cashmere goats, chickens, and even a mamma & her llamas. Farmers offer guided tours and share their extensive knowledge of farming practices, livestock, and even the “Secret Lives of Bees”. Enjoy some of the most sincere pumpkin patches around complete with hayrides, mazes, arts and crafts, and petting areas. Local restaurants and food stands will be offering many delicious and nutritious foods and beverages. Some of the locations offer bonus coupons and discounts on purchases.
