If you’ve driven down Stevens Creek Boulevard in Cupertino recently, you’ve likely noticed the new restaurants lining the street near Vallco. Take some time to turn off the main drag and explore all that Main Street Cupertino has to offer—restaurants that cater to picky palates, seasonal events for families and cool spots to chill on a sunny South Bay day. Read on for a glimpse of what you’ll find there.
One of the great things about Main Street Cupertino is all of the outdoor hangout spots. Grab a spot on one of the giant round couches or bring your sandwich to the communal table outside of Rootstock. There are benches all over and areas for kids to run around including the large center courtyard. Grab an iced gingersnap coffee from Phillz and let the kids tire themselves out while you soak in some Vitamin D.
Much of the draw for families is the choice of restaurants at Main Street Cupertino. Park in the huge covered parking structure and take your pick among loads of options like Pieology (custom pizzas), LYFE Kitchen (modern comfort food) and Oren’s Hummus (Israeli food).
Another great option for families is Lazy Dog Restaurant. It offers a lively indoor dining room (read: nobody will notice if your kid is acting like a kid) and plenty of crayons for menu coloring. The build-your-own pizza on the kids menu gets a double thumbs up from our discerning taste testers as does the chicken teriyaki. If you time it right, parents can request a table on the patio and enjoy the happy hour menu (discount booze + half-sized bites) while the kids get get their eat on. You can even bring Fido with you as doggies are welcome on the patio. Save room for the Simms Family S’more – a shareable combo of s’mores, peanut butter and brownie.
Peruse the events calendar to see what’s on deck before you head over to Main Street. Regularly-occurring events including Paws on Main (a doggie meet-up) and the upcoming Family Day on November 19 when you can stop by to enjoy the drum circle, balloon animals, face painting and more. Kick off the holiday season with the Holiday on Main Tree Lighting on December 2.
In addition to restaurants, Main Street Cupertino offers retail stores like Howard’s Shoes for Children and a teeny, tiny Target Express that caters to the nearby techie employees. A Residence Inn is on-deck to be added in the near future.
