Michelin-Star Dining with the Kids
A Michelin-starred restaurant probably wouldn’t be your first choice for a relaxing meal with the kids, but as a destination for visiting relatives, holidays and other special occasions, Murray Circle at Cavallo Point makes every effort to accommodate the littlest diners. The upscale lodge and resort is located in Fort Baker (Sausalito) and home to some amazing views of Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco.
At this much-acclaimed restaurant, everyone from sleeping infant to too-cool tween can dine comfortably. Murray Circle even has wooden high chairs for little guests and ramps for those with sleepers in strollers. The dining room juxtaposes restored architectural details with modern photography and is elegant without being stuffy. There are several seating areas, but families tend to stick to the spacious tables in the back room.
We suggest visiting for lunch or brunch after a morning walk around Fort Baker to soak up the views of the Golden Gate Bridge or an exploratory day at neighboring Bay Area Discovery Museum. While you dine on Drakes Bay oysters and Marin Sun Farms beef for lunch, the kids can try out the $15 children’s meal – which on a recent visit included mac n’ cheese, fish sticks, apple slices and the darling chocolate “mouse.” The meal comes served on a cute little tray, in very fun kid-sized portions. Or better yet, snag an outdoor table on the deck for brunch and order the cornmeal pancakes or fresh fruit smoothie for your toddler. If you want to get your family used to dining in elegant settings and want to feel welcomed while doing so, it is definitely worth a visit!
