Grab some lederhosen, dancing shoes and good cheer! It’s all about the oompah at super awesome Oktoberfest By The Bay. Parents, no worries on missing out on an awesome salute to Bavarian culture, simply pack up the kids, don the feathered hats and get ready for a day of fun at Family Day during the 14th Annual Celebration. Live bands will have toes tappin’ and voices ringing, pretzels will be eaten and a whole lotta fun will be had!
Go: Family Day at Oktoberfest By The Bay is Sunday, September 22nd, from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
Getting There: The festival is held on Pier 48, across from McCovey Cove in Mission Bay and parking is a snap, since the Imperial Parking lot is across the street. If the plan includes public transportation, the Muni stops on 3rd street and the CalTrain stop is on King Street, just a few blocks away.
What to Do: Head for the middle of the room, where non-stop entertainment from the world famous 21-piece Chico Bavarian Band will be on display. This big brass band is always tons of fun and laughs for the kiddos, and the outfits don’t hurt either! Traditional Bavarian dancing, meaning lots of polka and a chicken dance or two, will be going on all day. Enjoy performances by The Internationals and Deutscher Musikverein of San Francisco, and the Nature Friends Schuhplattler.
What to Eat: Who doesn’t go to an Oktoberfest and not expect to grub down on a killer selection of Bavarian offerings? From bratwurst to schweinshaxe, goulash stews to wienerschnitzel and everything in between, this is a great chance to experience a new culture as a family. Wash it all down with one of Spatan’s four beers being poured or imported German Wine.
Got a sweet tooth? Save a smidgen of room for a Berliner or Knieküchle and other delectable German pastries.
Cost: $25 general admission, and $5 for children 13 – 18. Children 12 and under are FREE. Purchase tickets online.
VIP Status: A $75 ticket includes access to private bathroom, private bar, commemorative mug and first beer and a traditional German dinner in the VIP seating area.Oktoberfest By The Bay 888-746-7522
