A local Bay Area mom-turned-cookbook-author wants to help you get your groove back in the kitchen, and turn your little picky eaters into full-fledged food adventurers. The secret sauce is outlined in her new book, The 52 New Foods Challenge: A Family Cooking Adventure for Each Week of the Year. In addition to providing practical advice on shopping seasonally, cooking with kids and fostering peace (not war) at the dinner table, her prescriptions are completely approachable for even the busiest family, as they require only a 1-2 hour time commitment each week. Chocolate Rocket

Ingredients for The Chocolate Rocket

2 medium Haas avocados
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup light brown sugar
1/3 cup nonfat milk
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Whipped cream and fresh fruit, for serving

Directions for The Chocolate Rocket

1. Halve the avocados and remove the pits. using a spoon, scoop around the fruit, between the skin and the flesh, to remove the flesh. Place it in a food processor fit with a metal blade.

2. Add the cocoa powder, sugar, milk and vanilla and process for 2 minutes, or until smooth and no chunks of avocado remain. .

3. Chill for 10 minutes.

4. Serve in small cups with a dollop of whipped cream. Top with fresh fruit.
