This pancake palace is the go-to spot for a weekend brunch in Burlingame. Located just off Burlingame Ave, it’s a quick trip from here to get your weekend shopping done afterwards, or you can head the other direction and stop by Washington Park for a playdate after breakfast. Practically a Burlingame institution, Stacks’ popularity is reflected in the lines that form on weekend mornings. While the restaurant is roomy, it’s a good idea to go early or during the week unless you don’t mind a wait. In case you were wondering though, the wait is worth it! We can’t think of a better place in Burlingame for kid-friendly New American brunch fare. The service is fast and friendly, and the portions are reasonably priced and very large. The options are extensive as well: from frittatas, omelets, skillets, and scrambles, to crepes, waffles, and their many variations on the pancake. Regulars rave about the wheat-germ pancakes, which have a crunchy zest lacking from standard pancakes—although their standard pancakes ain’t bad either! For both kids and adults we recommend any of the pancake variations, particularly the wheat germ and the Banana Macadamia Nut & Coconut version. Mmmm. It’s the perfect way to start your weekend!
