Tuttimelon is a chain we can get behind. Who could say no to yummy low-fat fro-yo in an easy self-serve setting, with plenty of flavors and toppings? Not the Red Tricycle crowd, that’s for sure. While the scientific community has yet to provide evidence of frozen yogurt’s addictive properties, we’ve certainly found Tuttimelon to be habit-forming. Their pleasant outpost on Burlingame Ave is no exception. With sleek glass counters filled with gelato and sorbet and gleaming silver yogurt machines, the shop feels clean and modern, and grabbing dessert couldn’t be easier. Just pick up a paper cup, pull the handle of your favorite flavor (or flavors!), scoop your chosen toppings over the yogurt, and let the barista weigh your cup to determine price. The self-serve style means you can eat as little (or as much!) as you want, but be careful that your eyes don’t get bigger than your stomach. We’re sure we aren’t the only ones who’ve gotten carried away tasting the different flavors here—although Tuttimelon promises all of their yogurt is nonfat with healthy active cultures, so the guilt isn’t overwhelming even if you over-indulge. The virtuous can stick to the basic yogurt with fresh fruit on top, while the sinfully inclined can dig into gelato with toppings like crushed oreos and gummi bears. This is one for kids and adults.
