Get ahead of the crowds during the next rainy spell and head to the brand-new Menlo Park playspace U-Me. The co-founders have struck a perfect balance, creating a place where families can meet friends, work, or exercise while the kids play.
After checking-in at the front desk, you’ll enter the café, which is both a wi-fi hotspot (with plenty of places to charge up your laptop and phone) as well as an organic eatery for the entire family. And the whole space is inspired by sleek design (think high-tech café meets Paul Frank store). Fun cloud-shaped windows separate the café from the highlight of U-Me–its expansive 4,000 square-foot indoor play area. Spacious and airy, it features a large climbing structure with a slide, an imaginative play area with a market, kitchen and dress-up clothes and a life-sized wooden boat where small and big kids alike will enjoy sailing off to far away lands. There’s also a gymnastics studio complete with a trampoline, balance beam and climbing wall, a fantastic children’s library and even child-size toilets in the bathrooms.
Parents will appreciate that they can get some work done, take a yoga or barre class, or grab a bite to eat while their child is in the on-site ‘childminding’ program, or in one of U-Me’s many enriching classes for kids (including music, art, dance, science and gymnastics).
Members are able to reserve up to two hours of childcare per week for free, and they’ll have drop-ins available as well. While U-Me is not limited to members, they do receive a number of perks–aside from finally having a destination perfect for the entire family!
