There was once a pregnant woman heading down the path of life, when she encountered many confusing twists in the road; Ring sling or Maya wrap? Hand pump or electric? CIO or No Cry Sleep Solution? She didn’t know which way to turn. Just then, a bright light appeared in the sky and Christine Wallace, the Fairy Godmother of Seattle moms, lead her through the Emerald City to a hidden oasis called Gracewinds.
Gracewinds is a one-stop shop for everything a pregnant woman or new mom might need. Their perinatal services range from lactation counseling to yoga to massage therapy to doulas to nutrition counseling, and more. The center, founded by Wallace, is home base for a naturopathic pediatrician and a craniosacral therapist who works with all ages. Gracewinds also owns and runs The Peapod, a premiere shop for parenting products, which features the largest selection of baby slings we’ve seen, breastfeeding supplies including three brands of nursing bras, and cute organic onesies. The Velveteen Child, a children’s used bookstore, recently moved in to the center. Book diva Candice Schuchardt offers classic, collectable and contemporary choices. And if your looking for the Godmother herself, you might find Christine Wallace at China Cat Coffee & Teas, the new shop she just opened on the premises, offering local Lighthouse coffee and tea from Republic of Tea. Tables welcome lingering visits to talk about Baby, peruse the books, and enjoy your day.
P.S. Gracewinds is committed to raising funds for their Global Breast Milk Initiative, a non-profit organization promoting and educating about breastfeeding worldwide and establishing milk banks in sub-Saharan Africa.
A Fairy Godmother, indeed.
