Let’s face it, the weekday routine of negotiating napping and playtime and temper tantrums, along with cooking meals, and doing laundry, can be a grind. If you work outside of the home, there’s the added stress of getting home to do all of the above. So when weekends come around, there’s much to crave: time with your spouse, family time, fitness.
Enter, 5focus, a holistic fitness studio in South Lake Union that offers family programming on Saturdays. Founder Laura Robinson, a mom of a toddler, designed the program as a place where moms and dads can spend time working out together, or just relaxing, but also have a place where kids would feel welcome. Childcare is offered every Saturday from 8:00 am to noon, so adults can take Kinesis (a 45 minute class, where you’ll burn 30% more calories than traditional exercise), or indulge in stretch or massage therapies. There’s also a drop-in kids’ yoga class for ages 3 to 10, which blends yoga games with a creative story to build body awareness and strength. Families can also hang out in the studio’s Gathering Place, which serves smoothies and snacks, along with free coffee, tea and WIFI.
After a Saturday morning of fitness, family and relaxation at 5focus, you’ll be revived and ready for the next long week to come.
