Organic from Top to Toe
You may already be familiar with Seattle’s Frock Shop–a quaint, mom-adored boutique famous for vintage-inspired dresses. But, most recently, Frock Shop became the home of Hoot Organic baby hats. Frock Shop and Hoot Organic, located in Seattle’s parent-friendly Phinney neighborhood, are owned by Suzy Fairchild, a local Seattle designer, and most recently, a mom. Suzy tells us she originally set out to create a shop that was full of reasonably priced clothing–especially dresses–that all had some funky individuality to them, and fit a wide variety of body types. While out for a walk with her new baby on one of Seattle’s oh-so-blustery days, Suzy came up with the brilliant and necessary design for a hat that stays on baby’s head, covers little ears and shades eyes. Handmade in Seattle, these perfect little hats are available in scads of adorable prints–we couldn’t resist Owls, Giraffes and Flora & Fawn! And it gets better: all Hoot hats are made with 100% organic cotton and all the hats are reversible, featuring alternate patterns of solid colors, stripes and more! We love that 5% of Frock Shop’s proceeds go to Shoes That Fit, a non-profit known for building self-esteem by providing children with shoes and clothing for school. As if that weren’t enough, Suzy tells us baby dresses made from vintage and recycled fabrics, as well as organics, are coming in the spring, so stay tuned.
