However you spell it – doughnut or donut – it’s a scrumptious treat that’s hard to resist. Ring-shaped or filled, glazed or powdered – donuts are the original comfort food that can satisfy our morning, afternoon or evening sugar cravings. Craving one now? Flip through the gallery to discover our favorite doughnut shops. (Psst… they’re in alphabetical order because we couldn’t possibly rank them!)

The Original Bakery

Headed to the Fauntleroy ferry dock? Got a fun day at Lincoln Park planned? Stop by The Original Bakery for a yummy donut – West Seattle’s hidden donut hideaway. The Original Bakery opened in 1936 and many of its old baking traditions continue today – each donut is hand cut and finished. Daily donut flavors include glazed Persians, applesauce doughnuts and Bismarcks. But the favorites of the two cuties pictured above are the raised glazed ring, plain original and the French crueler (made only on Wednesdays).
