Say hello to Shred415, Seattle's newest boutique fitness studio that needs to be on every parent's radar. Not just because the circuit "empowers all bodies and fitness levels," but because they also offer childcare. During the 60-minute workout, "Shredders" (think: members) make their way through four, 15-minute intervals, moving from dynamic running drills to floor sessions, targeting both cardio and strength in an efficient HIIT workout that means you see results fast. Add in the sense of community that comes with small class sizes and you'll find out soon why Shred415's motto is "more than a workout." Drop-ins are just $28, but most folks buy the Original Shredder Membership to make the most of each round (psst... it's specially priced at $149/mo. right now).
Keep Score: Childcare will run you between $6-$8. They take kids ages 6 weeks-13 years in the playspace, where they'll find plenty of toys and gadgets to keep them busy and safe while you get your workout in.

Olympic Athletic Club
Named “Best Health Club/Fitness Practice” By Seattle Magazine in 2012 and voted “Best Gym in Seattle” in the Best of Citysearch 2013, Olympic Athletic Club in Ballard went through a major renovation a few years ago, with first class upgrades including a second pool, new locker rooms, more studio space for over 90 available fitness classes and tons of brand new equipment to get your heart rate up. And to entice you even more (besides being open 24 hours, five days a week), the gym features a fantastic Kids Korner, where childcare providers care for your tyke in a clean, fun environment. Childcare is available every day of the week to kids starting at four months and is open to both members and guests of members while using the facility, with 10 hours of free childcare given to Parent and Family membership holders each month. Additional childcare is available for $3/hour. Kids’ swimming lessons are also available, making this an ideal spot for you and your tot.

PRO Sports Club
Considered by some to be the Cadillac of local fitness clubs, PRO Sports Club has a kid-friendly location in Bellevue for those of us who want a little fancy with our fitness. Bellevue’s location includes multiple pools, tennis, racquetball, squash and basketball courts, a spa, salon, bistro and a women-only gym The hourly childcare provided there is for kids aged six weeks through five years. Bellevue’s Discovery Bay offers childcare options every day of the week for members and their guests, as well as non-members (once a month) who visit the spa, physical therapy or podiatry services. The Eastside facility even includes a daily schedule (including circle time, free choice time and snack time) and offers members an option for up to 10 hours of off-site childcare (meaning you can leave the building!) and a part-time preschool for kids.
Keep Score: Hourly childcare fees start at $9/hr. and go up to $11/hr., depending on age. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made 24-hours in advance. They are required on Saturdays for kids ages 2-5. So sign up your kiddos and get your sweat on.

Located in the heart of downtown Seattle (just one block north of Pike Place Market), Seattle Athletic Club is a premier health and fitness destination for many Seattle families. The club offers a qualified professional fitness staff, excellent customer service, exciting fitness programs and ever-evolving and improving fitness facilities and equipment. Classes include group exercise, personal training, yoga, court sports, martial arts and more. Seattle Athletic Club also offers as much for its little members as they do for its parents, from swimming lessons to childcare at the Kids Club. Weekday childcare is available from 9 a.m.-2 p.m and 4-8 p.m. with weekend care available from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Keep Score: Ages 8 weeks to 7 years old are welcome. Infants 8 weeks to children 15 months of age are allowed in the Child Center up to 3 hours to accommodate their special needs. Reservations are required and can be made up to one week in advance by calling 206-443-1111. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance to ensure the Center has appropriate coverage. Spots tend to fill up quickly, so plan in advance. Drop-ins may be turned away due to limited space. However, the Club will try to accommodate your child if space is available.

Highline Athletic Club
For those of us located south of the city, Highline Athletic Club offers group classes in cycling, yoga, ZUMBA, Aqua Fit and more and has a full line of strength equipment, elliptical trainers and treadmills, to name a few, and their indoor track, pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room will keep you busy until the pounds fall away. And they focus on family fitness partnering with local programs like B-Town Hoops, The British Swim School and the Northwest School of Karate so kids can stay active too.

Are you a former dancer who misses her pointe shoes, or do you just yearn for the long, lean legs of a prima ballerina? Then classes at barre3 might be your ticket to fit and fabulous. A combination of ballet barre, yoga and Pilates, barre combines low impact movement, isometric holds and stretching through various postures to increase flexibility, gain strength and achieve gracefulness – something we moms sometimes feel has simply left the building. barre3 offers classes at 13 Washington locations, including Capitol Hill, Roosevelt, Ballard, West Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland and the Issaquah Highlands.
Keep Score: barre3 childcare options vary by location, so be sure to check the one near you to see if it offers a Play Lounge. Usually, a single class costs between $5-$8/child, or parents can purchase a 10-pack series for $45-$55. Some locations offer a 20 pack too. More than one fit parent's workout center of choice, the YMCA is the epitome of family-friendly fitness. Conveniently located throughout Seattle and the Eastside, with locations serving downtown Seattle, West Seattle, Fauntleroy, Seatac, Auburn, Bellevue, Sammamish, Coal Creek, East Madison, University District and Bothell, the YMCA provides a variety of kid-tastic amenities, from swimming lessons and dance classes to Parents Nights Out and free childcare while parents get their workout on (or just take a breather in the lobby).
Keep Score: Childcare starts at six weeks old, and has a limit of 1.5 hours per day. Some locations even offer separate rooms for infants, toddlers and older kids. And for the price of your membership, you get access to all 13 locations.

24 Hour Fitness
Voted Best Big Box Gym Chain by Fitness Magazine, 24 Hour Fitness has locations conveniently located where you are – from West Seattle to Renton Highlands to downtown Bellevue to Issaquah and many, many more. Their membership dues include the latest in fun classes, from ZUMBA to Yoga-lates (and plain old Yoga) to Turbo Kick (fancy kick boxing) and their in-house Kids’ Club for kiddos six months to 11 years provides age appropriate games, toys, movies and seasonal activities overseen by trained attendants certified in CPR and first aid. So while you make your fitness goals, your kids can make new friends.
Keep Score: Not all locations have a Kids’ Club, so make sure to check before signing up. Costs vary per club (typically $4-5 for up to two hours) or you can add a Kids’ Club agreement to your membership for unlimited childcare.

Tips When Looking for a Gym
1. Decide whether you want to be anonymous on your elliptical or have a Cheers welcome with your workout (you know… where everyone knows your name). Most gyms worth their free weights will offer a free pass or trial membership (from one to 14 days), so you can check it out before you commit. Just how clean are the showers? Is there someone available to help me figure out this machine? Does my kiddo scream when I leave him or her in childcare?
2. Use your parent investigative skills to determine if the space and the staff fit your needs and health goals.
3. Find out what’s included in your membership before you buy. Do I need to bring my own towel? Will I get a tour of the facility? How about a free personal trainer session? Taking time to do your research will make it much more likely you’ll use that membership well past the first month, and ensure you enjoy every minute (OK, almost every minute) as you sweat, run, lift, dance and stretch your way to your ultimate fitness goals.
