It’s hard to believe that the space previously occupied by Queen Anne’s best toy shop, Urban Kids Play, is now the French-style bakery Le Reve. It’s still kid-friendly; there’s no better place in the neighborhood to teach your kids about the beauty of French baked goods. Upon entering Le Reve, you see a case full of glistening fruit tarts and cakes, followed by a sumptuous display of flaky goodness: croissants, pain au chocolat, French macaroons and myriad other pastries and breads. On the savory menu, there are sandwiches, soups, pizzas and salads, and you can pre-order box lunches for the office.

Le Reve also offers classes for adults and kids alike. For the little ones: try out The Urban Manners, a two-day workshop that helps children learn etiquette fit for holiday parties and beyond. Kids can also attend the Gingerbread Workshop or Hand-painted Holiday Cookies class to get into the Christmas spirit. Le Reve will offer other events, such as “mommy-daddy date night” and girls’ night out down the road; the cafe itself is available for birthday parties or meetings – just call two weeks minimum ahead of time to reserve your spot!
