Celebrate the arrival of spring and the Cherry Blossoms at this spectacular musical event at Sponge.
Shiho Kurauchi from Seattle’s famed Silk Strings will introduce families to the koto – a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument with 13 strings and moveable bridges. Plus, Sponge staff will share Japanese stories and help kiddos make beautiful cherry blossom crafts.

Sponge is a leader in children’s language education, offering classes in Spanish, Mandarin, French and Japanese in its own centers and in before and after school programs throughout the greater Seattle area. Focused on children from birth through elementary school, native-speaking teachers teach language and culture through activities, stories, music, art and movement.
Silk Strings is a koto ensemble renowned for playing a wide range of music on koto and other traditional Japanese instruments.
