Round Up the Kiddos for Breakfast
If your family enjoys pancakes (and whose doesn’t?), check out Chace’s Pancake Corral in Bellevue, an old-school restaurant that’s been around for more than 50 years. Despite its location, the food and atmosphere aren’t meant to be fancy. It’s a casual place with friendly staffers who are likely to call you “hon.” (If Chace’s were in Seattle, it would be the perfect late-night, post-event destination.) The pancakes are large and choices include classic buttermilk to buckwheat to blueberry or strawberry. You also can get Swedish pancakes, waffles, or blintzes. Other breakfast items include eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns in various combination plates. The best part is that breakfasts start at $4.50 for three buttermilk pancakes and top out at a whopping $8.95 for a combo guaranteed to satisfy heartier appetites.
Kids get their own menu, which serves as a coloring page. They can get a bear pancake for $2.95, waffles or dollar-sized pancakes for $4.25, and combos for $4.50. The servers happily accommodate families and are quick to reassure you that they can work around a protruding high chair. Needless to say, the space is tight, so store the stroller in the car. Chace’s even have kids’ cups for beverages, so come light on gear, and heavy on appetite!
