Thanks to our mild year-round weather, Seattle families can find a fun run or walk practically any weekend of the year. But if you’re looking to increase your family’s fun factor this year, consider participating in a costume race. From a leprechaun-inspired 5K to a Seahwaks-themed 12K, get your blood pumping and the fun flowing at these family races where the costumes are the real winners.
Seahawks 12K Run at The Landing
If your family can't wait until August for some Seahawks action, this is the race for you! This year’s race promises to be bigger, faster, stronger, louder, just like our beloved Hawks. The Seahawks 12K course allows runners the unique opportunity to run around Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC), the Seahawks training facility. And word on the streets is that you just might catch a glimpse of some Seahawks players, the Sea Gals and Blue Thunder, the high-energy drumline guaranteed to put an extra pep in your step.
Good to Know: If a shorter distance is your game, choose the GLOW 5K Run/Walk, a flat and fast course around the Landing and surrounding Renton neighborhoods. The Seahawks Play 60 Kids Run is a ½ mile race completely contained within The Landing, open to mini Hawks fanatics ages 10 and under. Little 12s registered for the kids’ run will receive a t-shirt and finishers ribbon. Psst! Be sure to bring out your blue and green wigs, tutus, face paint, and jerseys and compete in the Seahawks Spirit Contest.
