Thanks to our mild year-round weather, Seattle families can find a fun run or walk practically any weekend of the year. But if you’re looking to increase your family’s fun factor this year, consider participating in a costume race. From a leprechaun-inspired 5K to a Seahwaks-themed 12K, get your blood pumping and the fun flowing at these family races where the costumes are the real winners.

Michelob ULTRA Seafair Pirate Run

Callin’ all scallywags and swabbies! Grab your best matey and compete in the Seafair Pirate Run, immediately preceding the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade. This evening race starts and ends at the Seattle Center, following the parade route and offers both 8K and 5K options. One of the highlights of the month-long summer Seafair festival, this Pirate Run promises to be one of the most festive race routes with over 150,000 parade spectators lining the streets and cheering you on all the way to the finish. You’ll be joined by the goofy Seafair Clowns, the rough-around-the-edges Seafair Pirates and the dazzling Seafair Princesses along the route. Participants are encouraged to raise funds for the race beneficiary, the Seattle Ronald McDonald House. Psst! A pirate costume contest will award some pirate booty to the top adult and kid costumes. Arrr!
