Be a Good Neighbor
Seattle Kids
Every morning when you bundle the Littles in their cozy sweaters and fleeces, do you ever stop to imagine a life where you didn’t have outerwear to put on them? With that daunting thought in mind—along with the memory of the beloved, cardigan-wearing TV character Mr. Rogers —consider doing your first good deed of 2010. It’s once again time for Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive, which benefits Wellspring Family Services and is co-sponsored by PCC Natural Markets and KCTS 9. All new, clean or gently used children’s sweaters and coats will be accepted for donation starting Monday, Jan. 11 through Sunday Feb. 7.  Find collection bins at the nine PCC locations in the greater Seattle area and at KCTS 9 station lobby at 401 Mercer Street, Seattle. The lobby is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Items will be distributed by Wellspring Family Services, which provides free supplies to nearly 2,000 area children at their Baby Boutique in Seattle. For a list of items in urgent need at the Baby Boutique, go to their online Wish List. Once you donate, here’s betting you’ll be humming about “What a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” it is for days to come.
