Explore: Houghton Beach Park ds, things to do with kids in Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond

What do play sets, sweet potato fries, lake views and lattes all have in common? All are extremely accessible when you spend a morning at Houghton Beach Park, just south of downtown Kirkland on the Lake Washington waterfront. Kids will dig the playground’s many offerings, while adults will appreciate how easy it is to watch them from the surrounding arena-like seating area. If it’s a sunny day, you can swim at the beach or throw fishing lines off the dock. (Lifeguards are present during summertime.) If you need a morning cup of joe before heading to the park, there’s a Starbucks a few blocks south at Carillon Point. For lunchtime, head across Lake Washington Boulevard to pick up burgers, shakes and yummy fries at Kidd Valley. You can bring it back and eat at one Houghton Beach Park’s many picnic tables. On a clear day, don’t forget to soak in the gorgeous view of the lake, Seattle’s skyline and the Olympic Mountains..
