While a trip to Napa may not be in your immediate future, you can still be part of the fall grape crush. Cave B Estate Winery at Sagecliffe (high above the Columbia River – right next to the Gorge Amphitheater in George) has their annual Harvest Festival this weekend with activities the whole family can enjoy. Hit the road first thing in the morning to arrive in time for the festivities. Little Ones will have a ball on the tractor-driven hay rides, exploring the orchards, carving pumpkins, cookie decorating & crafts, watching the grape stomping competition, and making apple cider the old-fashioned way (you mean it doesn’t come out of a box?). A barbeque lunch is served all day starting at 11:30 am and we’re told there will also be caramel apples. Grown-ups have the opportunity to taste wine and attend cooking demonstrations and wine knowledge seminars. PS: Rumor has it that Cave B makes an ideal romantic getaway.88

Just East of Snoqualmie Pass is the fab new Suncadia Resort. The Nelson Dairy Farm within Suncadia is the site of two jam-packed weekends full of Harvest Festival fun (plus a Brewfest going on at the same time). Activities include wagon rides, pony rides, straw maze, carnival games, arts & crafts, a pumpkin patch and more. Check the website to find the daily entertainment schedule with guided nature hikes, contests, and performances by various bands. Admit it….those cowboy boots in the back of your closet are yearning to come out and play!
