Fish sticks: the sort of vile, antiquated TV dinner food that makes most modern parents recoil in horror. Fish and chips: totally awesome comfort food that we’d eat any day of the week. Panko crusted or beer battered, this British import is the kind of casual meal out all ages can appreciate. Here are seven of our favorite spots to take the fam for fish and chips.

Burien Fish House

In the most unlikely of strip malls, Burien is hiding one of the best reasons to visit the southern suburb. Burien Fish House offers a menu of fried seafood—cod, halibut, salmon, prawns, clams... you get the picture—plus killer chowder, coleslaw and chips (read: fries). Kids can also choose chicken strips or grilled cheese, but not even the pickiest eaters will want to miss the fish here. Flavor fans should definitely try the house-made jalapeno tartar sauce; fries are excellent dipped in the chipotle ranch.
