With Thanksgiving coming up, closely followed by even more holiday eating, it’s the perfect time to get some preventative exercise in and support several local charities at the same time. If your fam is ready for some turkey trottin’ and reindeer runnin’ this holiday season, read on and get ready to lace up your tennies and participate in these local fun runs.

New Year’s Day 2k/5k Fun Run

Spend New Year’s Day on the beautiful Meridian Valley Country Club Golf Course for a fun 5k/2k event to celebrate 2016. The entire race course is on the golf course path, so it’s a great race for families and kids. And the 2k course is flat and a great option for little legs. Participants will receive a t-shirt as well as free beverages (hot and cold) and snacks following the race. All proceeds go to the American Lake Veteran’s Golf Course in Lakewood - the only golf course in the United States that is fully accessible to disabled veterans.

Good to Know: This event is open to the public and registration begins day of at 9 a.m. at the Meridian Valley Clubhouse. The race begins at 10 a.m. and starts and finishes at the clubhouse.

Registration Costs: Varies. Visit their event page for costs.
